RODO is the popular name for the General Data Protection Regulation. The implementation of the Regulation is described by many experts as a revolution in the management of personal data in companies.
It is not even about the amount of fines that entrepreneurs may face after the amended regulations come into force - although these are very high and may amount to as much as 4% of annual revenue or EUR 20 million! - but also the extent of the changes in day-to-day operations that Polish companies have to implement.
RODO in the purchasing department?
The available publications dealing with the subject of the Ordinance very often describe its impact on sales, marketing or HR and payroll departments. However, it is worth remembering that
RODO affects all areas of the company. Therefore, the purchasing department and the supply chain management area should not be overlooked when taking action.
Therefore, any action taken such as:
- audit of the personal data processed so far,
- control of received and held data processing consents,
- analysis of contracts with suppliers,
- implementation of new data management policies,
should also apply to purchasing processes.
It is worth remembering that RODO is not a one-off event - it will not end on the day it comes into force, i.e. 25 May 2018. Under the amended law, data protection will be an ongoing process. This means regular monitoring of the effectiveness of the implemented rules and tools.
At Eveneum, we help clients prepare for RODO. We also design first-class
data processing monitoring programmes, which avoid problems both on the day of implementation and in the future.
