Training description
In response to the growing demand for knowledge and skills related to sustainable supply chains, we have prepared a program focused on "Socially Responsible Purchasing: Effective Implementation and Execution of ESG Policy in Procurement Processes."
In a lecture-workshop format, we will discuss topics related to sustainable purchasing, with a focus on risk analysis and monitoring ESG Procurement KPIs.
After this 8-hour training, participants can expect to deepen their knowledge and better understand the following topics:
- How to plan and implement a sustainable purchasing program in an organization?
- How to communicate with suppliers to achieve quick wins that show clear financial, environmental, and social benefits for the organization?
- How to confidently develop your program over time using the tools and techniques presented during the training?
- How to structure your organization and procurement documents to maximize your chances of success, what challenges to expect, and how to address them?
- How to manage your suppliers from a sustainable development perspective and collaborate with them to shift the supply chain to ecological and ethical foundations?
- What software tools for sustainable purchasing are available to increase procurement productivity?
- How to assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain?
- How to create a sustainable purchasing program supported by senior management, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders?

1. The role of the purchasing function in protecting the company’s brand reputation
- Monitoring suppliers for ESG policy – an important element for procurement
- How to define roles dedicated to monitoring within the team and procurement process?
- Ethics of the buyer's work – how to prevent procurement abuses
- Best market practices for effective ESG procedure implementation in procurement across industries (finance, medical, manufacturing)
2. Implementation and execution of the ESG procedure in the procurement process
- Procurement process mapping with ESG activities – current role and responsibility division (procurement vs. business)
- Identifying value-added / non-value-added steps – prioritizing tasks in sustainable supply chain management
- Engaging stakeholders and board members in ESG execution in procurement
- Setting KPIs and supplier evaluation criteria (supplier selection stage, evaluation during collaboration)
- Communication with suppliers – tools for monitoring suppliers and feedback rules
- Regular reporting – ESG audit
3. Risk management in socially responsible procurement processes

Mateusz Rak
Global purchasing director, expert in transforming the purchasing function at a global level
With over 15 years of experience in strategic sourcing, creating and developing shared service centers, and building efficient purchasing teams, he has extensive expertise in the railway, aerospace, and automotive industries. He has worked for companies such as ABB, Alstom, International Airlines Group, Rolls-Royce, Valeo, and Varroc Lighting Systems. Throughout his career, he has managed purchasing organizations of over 240 people, supporting business units across the globe. At Eveneum, he specializes in strategic purchasing management, the transformation of purchasing organizations, and category management. Outside of work, he is passionate about purchasing, negotiation theory and practice, and is a lecturer at Jagiellonian University and WSZiB in Kraków.
