Digital Procurement Center [DPC]

At Eveneum, we create the Digital Procurement Center [DPC], which is a team of consultants, architects of solutions that reduce service costs and increase process efficiency in companies. In particular, we focus on the areas of logistics and purchasing, optimising processes, among others:

  • Source-to-Order (from building supplier strategies, tenders, contracts)
  • Procure-to-Pay (includes order-to-pay and accounts payable)

 With our clients:

  • we select and implement solutions based on modern, low-cost IT to streamline processes
  • we optimise the existing cooperation ecosystem or improve procedures, which does not require any investment from the client
  • conduct tenders for IT/IS solutions on behalf of clients

Together with technology partner BiModal Solutions, we invite you to read an article describing the Enterprise Business Capabilities [EBC] technology and its capabilities. At the same time, we invite you to a webinar on this technology. Details of the webinar at the link.

The new incarnation of ERP is „Enterprise Business Capabilities”(EBC)

Digital transformation is the use of technology to implement innovation in a company. In effect, it leads to a change in the business model, due to increased growth momentum and increased competitiveness. The aim of digital transformation, which is so much talked about today, is to remodel businesses, dramatically changing the way they serve customers, produce and deliver a product or service and, in addition, using the latest digital technologies available to gain a competitive advantage.

So isn't calling an ERP system implementation a „digital transformation” just creative marketing? The origins of ERP systems go back 100 years! Back then, of course, the processes involved in planning a company's resources were done manually. Over the years, however, they have evolved and undergone many technological changes. However, it is still too little to call today's ERP systems digital transformation platforms. Digital transformation can be enabled by technologies that will make your enterprise stand out from the crowd... Allowing you to be competitive and innovative. How do you want to achieve this by implementing a system that will concretise your processes for years, and is already used by all your competitors?

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for lowcode!

In the report Gartner of January 2020 can be found: „ERP is turning into an application that needs to be complemented by an ecosystem of solutions that allow application building and integration based on low-code technology.” Gartner calls this new era of ERP -. Enterprise Business Capabilities (EBC), a business opportunity for companies. EBC is intended to enable and streamline the development of unique business characteristics, move away from standardised processes and pursue innovative strategies.

Lowcode needs no code

Lowcode technology allows business users to easily create their own applications and even change processes, integrating with artificial intelligence and analytical tools. ERP systems, supported by lowcode applications, allow users to go beyond what the ERP vendor has proposed right out of the box. At last, businesses can innovate and influence decisions with dizzying speed. Importantly, changes can be made by business users. They are the ones who tailor the ERP to their needs, without unnecessarily burdening the IT department. The lowcode for ERP emerged as companies desperately sought to be more flexible. The pace of business, adjusting business models, product ranges, adding new services for customers has never been so intense. Old ERP systems can no longer cope, especially in this new world - the world of remote working.

Innovation needed for transformation

What is the innovation of low-code technology? Apart from the technical aspects, I must mention the business opportunities of low-code. Any changes to the ERP or processes of a company, introduced via the low-code platform, do not interfere with the existing systems. This means that you gain full scope to test even the boldest ideas for digital transformation in your company. For example, if you want to test whether the implementation of changes to your ERP will have the desired effect, you make the changes using the low-code platform. Did the change meet your expectations? It stays! You want to make modifications? You do it on the fly. All at platform level, without interfering with the ERP system. Such a solution means that changes are made quickly and efficiently, and importantly at a lower cost than rebuilding the functions of the entire ERP system. The use of low-code technology is not simply a technology trend. It is the future of digitalisation and even transformation of many processes.

ERP only gains from lowcode

The best evidence of this is the relationships that are formed between companies that have been implementing ERP systems for years and lowcode platform providers. I have had the opportunity to observe several such collaborations in recent years, and to this day I still wonder why ONLY a few! After all, such mergers are an obvious and even natural step towards innovative development. Yes, it requires a rethinking of the partnership strategy so as not to “cannibalise” your own services, but the positive synergy effect is guaranteed!

Revolution or evolution?

I foresee many discussions about whether it is better to modify the ERP systems themselves or whether it is worthwhile to apply a low-code platform to an already finished system and implement processes on it to guarantee the competitiveness of the business. For me, the answer is obvious when faced with a choice: either I only use the tools available in ERP, or I add a process layer, where ERP functions begin to “serve” users and allow the boldest ideas to be realised.

What does all this mean for customers?

Until now, when any bold ideas for process automation came to the minds of customers, only two solutions were possible. The first (more optimistic) was to implement the idea at the cost of ERP system downtime, errors in its configuration, implementation time and very high financial outlay. The second solution was much simpler, but also more brutal - killing the idea in the bud and trying to console with what was available in ERP out of the box. Since it was so bad and so wrong, a third solution arose - the use of the lowcode platform, which provides the opportunity to test even the boldest solutions. Lowcode does not interfere with the operation of the ERP system, it only supports its performance and gives you more options.
